I felt for this family. In modern day circles, this behavior continues. Kudos to the family for sticking up for their child. Wonderful book.

Several months ago, I knew very little of Tourette's Syndrome. Then a young man in my community began a campaign to educate about TS and anti-bullying. So when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it. I was not disappointed.
The story is told through Cory and his nearly endless battle to find an explanation and treatment. I think very few people can understand what his life is like, but this book does an excellent job evoking compassion for Cory and his family, and anger towards the medical community for failing him for so long.
This is the first book from James Patterson that I've read, so I had no preconceived notions on how it would be. But I heartily recommend it, for the educational value, for those who are interested in pediatric medicine, and for inspirational true stories.

Written from Cory's point of view, this is an incredible story of the depths of torment in an individual's life that never quite quench an indomitable spirit. Cory not only possesses an amazing mind, he has been blessed with amazing parents. Following this horror story to its conclusion will show there really are happy endings, not necessarily perfect but fulfilling and rewarding. James Patterson has used his considerable talents as a writer of suspense to engage the reader on a fantastic journey through Cory's life. This book will surely reinforce hope in many people's lives.
