Dead in Dixie

Take a big sip of Sookie Stackhouse with Dead in Dixie, an SFBC exclusive omnibus of Charlaine Harris’ earliest Southern Vampire novels and the basis of the hit HBO series, True Blood.

Dead Until Dark: Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse can read minds, but she can’t hear a word that vampire Bill is thinking. Unfortunately, he runs with a creepy crowd, and soon Sookie’s involved in all these murders....

Living Dead in Dallas: When a beastly creature nearly kills Sookie, the vampires save her life...and ask her to search for a missing vamp in Dallas.

Club Dead: Sookie’s undead boyfriend, Bill, is on a secret assignment, but when she finally finds him—in an act of betrayal—she’s not sure whether to save him...or sharpen some stakes.

Love the series!!

My sister introduced me to these just before From Dead To Worse came out. Never watched the show & don't intend to because it's never the same as the books. Since I borrowed her books in the beginning I started buying each of the new ones as they came out & am so glad that I did. Have the newest(last) one ordered and am filling in my collection after returning my sisters'. The short stories are great also but I'd just like to find all of them. Sorry someone didn't like them but maybe they should stick to tv because the writing is far from substandard.

Great Series
December 07, 2012

I have read all the Sookie Stackhouse novels starting with True Blood back in 2006. I started watching the HBO shows when they came out in 2009 and have bought all the DVD's afterwards. Charlaine Harris these are the best Vampire novel series on the market today. I have read others but none compare to these. Thank you for such a great series. Can hardly wait for the next book to come out.

Horrible
June 01, 2012

I picked this up to explore the latest and greatest in the recent glut of Vampire Writings(tm) that has everyone so gaga. After the sparkly ones in Twilight, these vampires aren't much better. To base a television show off a book series, I'd expected more. I've been struggling to put my finger on why these books are not appealing to me. After three, I think I am nearing a conclusion. They'd make great Novellas but not Novels. The author doesn't seem to have the material to fill the pages. I'll grant this a 2 star rating, only because characterization grew as the three books completed, however, the writing was substandard and the action pitiable at best.

I was a fan of the show before I even knew there were books - now I love the books even more than the series! Have read them all and can't wait for a new one - hope it is coming soon!
