“If you're in the mood for mind games, Shutter Island is an engrossing read,” writes The Boston Globe about Dennis Lehane’s suspense masterpiece.
The year is 1954. U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels and his partner have come to Shutter Island, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, to investigate the disappearance of a patient. A murderess is loose on the island, despite having been kept under constant surveillance. As a killer hurricane bears down on them, a strange case takes on sinister shades—with hints of radical experimentation, horrifying surgeries and a covert shadow war.
No one is going to escape Shutter Island unscathed, because nothing at Ashecliffe Hospital is what it seems. But then, neither is Teddy Daniels.

This was the first book I'd ever read by the author. Loved it. I work in the Mental Health field, and found it to be a very engaging book. I can honestly say, what's portrayed in this book by the end, can-and does-really happen. It is amazing as to what happens in the field of mental illness. It is a good book, keeps you engaged with a great story!
